AXA XL announces promotion of Nigel Williams to VP, Senior Underwriter, Excess Casualty in Bermuda

Hamilton, Bermuda - January 12, 2022

AXA XL today announced that Bermudian Nigel Williams has been promoted to the role of Vice President, Senior Underwriter within the Bermuda Excess Casualty Team.

Mr. Williams has extensive general casualty experience with Fortune 1000 companies. His new responsibilities include developing and managing underwriting strategies for both renewing and new business within AXA XL’s Excess Casualty portfolio, primarily Energy, Construction and General Casualty accounts; and building and enhancing relationships with brokers and clients.

Mr. Williams has enjoyed a lengthy and successful career with the company, which he joined as an IT Applications Trainer in 1999, transferring to Underwriting in 2002. He has held progressively senior roles within the company.

Vivienne Moniz, Head of Excess Casualty, Bermuda said: “With over 22 years of industry experience, Nigel has significant expertise in his field, and we are excited that he has agreed to take on these new responsibilities. His extensive industry knowledge and experience is an asset to our Excess Casualty team as well as to our clients and brokers.”

Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, a Higher Diploma in Teaching, and a Higher Diploma in Computer Studies, all from the University College Cork, Ireland. He received a scholarship from the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII) and obtained his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters designation through the BII.
